My future career goals include becoming an independent physician-scientist and continuing my research in innate immune mechanisms of acute lung injury by utilizing basic and translational science techniques in a collaborative, academically focused work environment.

My research interests include acute lung injury and ARDS, with a focus on studying host-pathogen interactions that lead to host susceptibility following pathogen-induced lung injury.

What drives you to aspire to be a Physician Scientist?

A career as a physician-scientist provides a unique opportunity to practice clinical medicine and incorporate our bedside observations into the development of pertinent research questions. These questions can be studied rigorously in a research setting, thereby expanding our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of disease and, in turn, develop targets for future therapeutic options for our patients.
