How was the Physician Scientist Incubator valuable to you in your research and overall career goals?

The BWF Incubator Program was an invaluable experience that provided me with foundational tools to develop a proper research hypothesis, how to fund my research, as well as how to navigate my experimental design, and publish the results.  The unique and individualized weekly classes allowed me to grow as a surgeon-scientist.  Some of those classes included peer review of my publication drafts, whiteboard presentations, and elevator pitches to describe my research in a way that others can understand, and even how reviewers will likely respond to publications and grant applications.  My career goals will focus on maintaining a busy surgical practice while collaborating with engineering teams on medical product devices in an effort to improve patient care.
