Research Summary

My research interest is in tumor immunology. I want to better understand the interaction between cancer and the immune system, specifically the ways in which cancer cells hide from and inhibit a patient's immune response. In this way, I hope to reverse this suppression of the immune system in order to allow for the patient's own immune cells to fight and clear their cancer.

How was the Physician Scientist Incubator valuable to you in your research and overall career goals?

The BWF Incubator Program provided invaluable guidance and support at a time when I needed it the most.  Focusing on research with MD-only training is a huge paradigm shift and requires significant focus and dedication to "catch up" to PhD colleagues.  Having supportive faculty for research/career questions as well as a community of fellow physicians pursuing similar academic goals and facing similar challenges was a huge benefit.
