Research Summary

My primary research project is investigating the molecular pathophysiology of the thoracic aortic aneurysm with a focus on the vasa vasorum microvascular network that nourishes the adventitial layer and outer media of the aorta.  I have also developed a thoracic aortic aneurysm disease model in rabbits in order to investigate the effects of therapeutic biomaterials derived from the porcine extracellular matrix.

Career Goals

My career goal is to run an NIH-funded lab at an academic medical center while practicing as an adult cardiac surgeon.  My research goals include investigating regenerative biomaterials in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
