My primary research project is investigating the use of freeform reversible embedding of suspended hydrogels (FRESH) 3D bioprinting in creating patient-specific Fontan conduits that are geometrically designed using computational fluid dynamics. In addition, I will be utilizing human embryonic cardiomyocytes to create a pulsatilla 3D bio-printed Fontan conduit.
The BWF Incubator Program has been invaluable in helping provide a springboard for my future research career. Weekly small group meetings with Dr. Steinman, who has a wealth of experience and is incredibly patient, have been an indispensable resource of information in kickstarting my career as a future surgeon-scientist. Grant writing workshops, scientific rigor and reproducibility, and paper writing are just a few skills that have left an impact on me.
